Melt Aways

These are a Christmas favorite at our house. I made these while visiting my inlaws this Christmas. I think others call these cookies Russian Teacakes.
Meltaways

From: Mom aka Ruth Solter

1 cup butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 cup powdered sugar
2 1/4 cups flour
3/4 cup finely chopped nuts (I use almonds)

Cream butter, sugar and vanilla together. Add remaining ingredients. Roll into 1" balls. Bake at 400 degrees for 10-12 minutes on an ungreased cookie sheet. The cookies should be set but not brown. While the cookies are still warm (not hot) roll in additional powdered sugar.

Mmm...we make these every Christmas, too. Except, after the cookies have cooled completely, we add in an additional powdered sugaring. Makes them all pretty and white.

I believe another name for them is Mexican Wedding Cakes.

Yeah, that's what my mom's recipe has as the name. I call them Powdered Sugar Cookies.
